1780 2015 150cl (MAGNUM)

A highly selective vineyard choice was made to create a wine named after the first documented year of winemaking at Castell del Remei. It undergoes long aging in new French and American oak barrels to refine it, resulting in a fruity profile that is hidden behind a structure of well-rounded tannins.

Type of wine: A full-bodied, structured red with new oak aging. Mineral and structured.

Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Grenache.

Aging: 18 months in new French and American oak barrels.

Denomination of origin: Costers del Segre.

Alcohol: 14.5% vol.

Production: No sulfur used during vinification until malolactic fermentation. Fermentation between 22 and 26°C and maceration in a 10,000-liter tank, where malolactic fermentation also occurs before aging in new and second-year French and American oak barrels of 225 liters.

Agriculture: Organic (Certified by the Catalan Council for Organic Agricultural Production).

Tasting notes: Deep picota color with high layer and garnet reflections. Dense, colored legs. Intense aromas with smoky, spicy, and cedar notes, along with balsamic hints. When aired, it reveals its full aromatic complexity with notes of black fruit preserves, cocoa, and hints of minerals, roasted elements, and graphite. Sweet and full-bodied on the palate, with prominent yet mature tannins and acidity providing freshness. Very long, slightly bitter finish, with retronasal notes of roasted elements, chocolate, and tobacco leaf.
